Borussia Monchengladbach coach Oliver Neuville admits that Marcus Thuram is likely to leave the Bundesliga outfit amid interest from Premier League giants Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, speaking to Radio Sportiva.
Thuram’s inclusion in France’s 2022 World Cup squad may have been a cause for rather mixed emotions back home at the Borussia Park.
On one hand, Thuram’s call-up for Qatar was a fitting reward for man currently in the form of his life. On the other, it also serves to further enhance the forward’s burgeoning reputation, with the throng of clubs knocking on his door growing by the day.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle and Liverpool like France forward Marcus Thuram
“He’s having an amazing season. He’s scored a lot of goals,” Neuville says of Thuram, who’s found the net 13 times in just 17 games while being labelled a ‘world-class’ talent.
“I think it will be difficult for him to stay at Gladbach. If he continues to score so many goals, it’s certain he’ll have many offers from Italy, Spain and England.
“We must also be a little realistic. I hope he will still be here for a long time in Monchengladbach. But now he’s been called up by French for the World Cup, it will be difficult for him to extend.
“I hope (he stays). But the chances are slim.”
According to 90Min, Gladbach are willing to sell Thuram for as little as £10 million in January; their hands tied given that the former Guingamp ace will become a free-agent in just seven months time. He is on the radar of Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle.
Not to mention a Manchester United side in the market for attacking reinforcements following Cristiano Ronaldo’s acrimonious exit.
German publication Fussball Transfers are also throwing Liverpool’s name into the mix. A left-footed right-winger in the Thierry Henry mould, Thuram could potentially fill a Sadio Mane-shaped void in Jurgen Klopp’s frontline.
“I certainly recommend him to Serie A teams. Inter (Milan already wanted him two years ago,” adds former Germany international Neuville.
“He has enormous qualities, and he would do well in Italy.”
