Jose Enrique has stated that it’s best Naby Keita leaves Liverpool and joins AC Milan where he can secure a ‘reunion’ with Divock Origi, as he posted on Instagram.
In the summer, Origi headed for the exit door and signed for the Italian giants when his contract at Anfield expired.
Well, with Keita’s current deal at Liverpool also coming to an end this summer, unless he signs a new deal or secures a transfer elsewhere in January, the midfielder will also be leaving for nothing when the final ball is kicked in May.
If that happens, then it shouldn’t be a surprise because the 27-year-old has struggled during his time in England, more so with the fact that he hasn’t been able to stay out of the treatment room.
Nonetheless, with rumours that AC Milan are keen on signing Keita in 2023, former left-back Enrique shared that it’s time for him to now move on.
“You will let Keita go for free?” asked Enrique. “I believe it’s the best for us and him as well.
“The Italian league as well is not as demanding physically as the Premier League and he will get a reunion with Origi.”
BIG CHANGES AT LIVERPOOL
The midfield area has been a big concern for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp for a while now and it’s the position that needs serious construction.
In 12 months, there could be a sea-change in that position, with the likes of Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain leaving, and then new faces being added in.
In truth, the Reds need that refreshment and change in January, from Jude Bellingham to Morocco’s World Cup superstar, Sofyan Amrabat, many names have been thrown about to come in.
But this isn’t going to be fixed in one window and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Liverpool’s midfield continues to struggle this season as try to regain that consistent form from last season.
