West Ham youngster has a big season ahead.

West Ham United teenager Marcus Browne is excited to be back playing again after spending five months on the sidelines.

The 19-year-old made his return for the under-23 side last week against Leicester and is set to feature for them again versus Liverpool later today.

Browne told the club’s official website that the time out had been far from easy.

He said: “It felt really good to be out there against Leicester. It’s been a long five months.

“I’m grateful to the medical department we have at the club as they’ve been tough on me, but it’s (the return) what I’ve needed.”

Browne is one of the brightest talents in West Ham’s academy but his progress has been delayed by his injury.

It cost him the chance to impress in pre-season, and also meant he was not a candidate to go out on loan.

Browne spent time at Wigan Athletic in the second half of last season.

This is subsequently a bit of a bounce back campaign for the youngster, who should begin targeting breaking into the first team from next season.

Strong performances for the under-23s over the next year and even another spell on loan should be the goal, but he will need a bit of luck to avoid injury too, which managed to evade him last season.
