Raheem Sterling praised Liverpool and stated they are a ‘great opponent’ after Manchester City’s stunning Premier League title win on Sunday.
The Manchester City winger added that ‘because of Liverpool’, his side can achieve things like winning a fourth title in five seasons.
When Aston Villa were 2-0 up at the Etihad, many couldn’t believe that the unthinkable was happening and the Premier League title might have been heading to Merseyside.
But, a remarkable comeback from Man City ended Liverpool’s hopes of creating history by winning the quadruple.
Nonetheless, whilst speaking to Sky Sports Premier League, this was the message Sterling had for Liverpool.
“Each year we come in, we know how difficult it’s going to be with the teams that we have,” said Sterling.
“Liverpool is a great opponent. Every year, they push us to the wire. This is why we can achieve things like this, it’s because of them.”

That’s another Premier League title for Sterling in Manchester and a big reason as to why he left Anfield.
Perhaps the manner in which he left will never sit well with the fans, plus they will point towards their recent Champions League win as a trophy he still hasn’t won.
And the Reds can add a second European Cup, under Jurgen Klopp, to their crown this week when they take on Real Madrid in Paris.
This Liverpool side might not be rewarded for their work on the domestic stage, but a seventh European crown is on the horizon.
