Speaking to Arsenal’s official club website, Nuno Tavares has shared why he wanted to sign for the Gunners this summer.
The left-back is the London club’s first summer signing, and he seems to be absolutely buzzing to be a Gunner.
Tavares was completely sold on the Gunners’ project, claiming that the young core at Arsenal really suits him.
What’s been said?
Tavares shared why he wanted to sign for the Gunners.
“When I finished the season my agent told me that Arsenal were interested in me. In the first instance I was very happy and after this I dreamed about it, and [spoke about it] with my mum. I was so excited to be here, and now I’m here I’m so happy,” Tavares said.
“It’s because you have a good project. Young people, it’s good for me and we learn together, because we can understand together and we can have an evolution together with the young guys. It’s the same. It’s a good project with young guys and we understand each other.”

Perfect club
If Tavares was looking for a club with a young core and a project that will be built up over a number of years then he has chosen the right team.
Arsenal may not be in the best of positions right now, but with the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli coming through, they could once again be a force in the coming years.
Tavares could now play a massive part in that, and it looks as though he’s excited to get involved in the project that is developing under Mikel Arteta.
