Roy Keane has stated that he ‘still expects’ Manchester United to turn up and put in a good performance against Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Monday night, as he told ITV Sport.
Former Premier League striker, Ian Wright, also added by asking ‘why can’t’ Aston Villa beat Man United at Old Trafford tonight.
Villa have already beaten the Red Devils this season when both teams, at the time, had two different managers in their respective dugouts.
Since then, Steven Gerrard has replaced the now-Norwich City manager, Dean Smith, whilst Ralf Rangnick has come in for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Ahead of that game, this is what both Keane and Wright had to say about that all premier League FA Cup clash, as the former Manchester United midfielder couldn’t help but jibe at Arsenal.
“It’s Aston Villa at home, you still expect Man United to turn up and put on a performance,” said Keane. “It’s not been good enough recently.”
Wright said: “Of course, they will (feel like they have a chance). I think anyone will. You saw what happened when Wolves went there. They believed they could win and they did, so why can’t Villa think the same?”
Keane then added: “Arsenal got beat at Old Trafford, didn’t they?”
There will be a bit of bounce around the Villa players given the news that they have signed Philippe Coutinho.
Whilst it’s doom and gloom for those in red and it will be interesting to see how they respond to recent abject performances.
This is a double-header between the two sides this week because, after tonight’s game, Villa will then welcome Man United to their own patch for a Premier League encounter on Saturday evening.
