John Aldridge has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Liverpool’s defeat to Arsenal in the FA Community Shield on Saturday evening.
Liverpool lost the FA Community Shield to Premier League rivals Arsenal on penalties at Wembley Stadium in London.
The match finished 1-1 after normal time, and Mikel Arteta’s side won the penalty shootout 5-4.
Former Liverpool striker Aldridge was following the match, and he has given his take on the final result on Twitter.
Aldridge does not think that the performance of Jurgen Klopp’s side was great, but he has reminded Liverpool fans of what happened last season, hoping that it is an omen.
The 2019 FA Community Shield ended 1-1 between Liverpool and Manchester City after normal time, and Pep Guardiola’s side won 5-4 on penalties.
However, Liverpool recovered from the setback and won the 2019-20 Premier League title with ease.
The Anfield faithful will hope that something similar happens this time around, but one suspects that it will not be so easy, with City, Chelsea and perhaps even Manchester United looking to challenge for the Premier League title.
