Thiago Alcantara has admitted that he is no longer surprised by the ‘precise’ Diogo Jota this season, as he told Liverpool’s website.

The midfielder added that, last season he did ‘get a surprise’ by how sharp Jota’s was in front of goal for Liverpool, but during this campaign, it has simply been ‘amazing’.

Only Mohamed Salah (16) has scored more Premier League goals than Jurgen Klopp’s new number nine (12).

Previously, it was Roberto Firmino who would lead the line for the Reds, but goal after goal, has seen Jota now take that driving seat.

And Thiago is loving what the Portugal international is producing on a weekly basis for the Merseyside club.

“Diogo, we did not get surprised this season,” said Thiago. “We got a surprise last season how precise he was upfront and how he was sharp.

“This season, we just wait for a good performance like this and it’s amazing.”

It was another two goals for Jota in midweek, as the Reds eased past the out-for-form, Leicester City on home soil.

Now they possibly have a tougher challenge against the Premier League’s bottom-of-the-table club in Burnley.

Sitting bottom they may well be, but Liverpool fans are well aware of how tough it can get against Sean Dyche’s men if they turn the screws in their direction.

And whilst all three points will still be expected, there is no doubt that Burnley will turn this into a right old scrap.
