Jose Enrique has expressed on Instagram that it is ‘amazing’ Arthur Melo decided to play for Liverpool U21s against Rochdale on Tuesday in order to get his fitness levels up.

The former left-back spoke about Liverpool’s deadline day loan signing and how he is a ‘very, very talented’ player, who has brought his own chef, fitness coach and physio with him to England.

After Jurgen Klopp changed his mind late on during the 2022 summer transfer window, the Reds went knocking for a much-needed midfielder.

Arthur was the man they pushed for as they secured a loan deal from Juventus for the Brazil star.

It’s difficult enough trying to meet the demands of Klopp, but with Arthur being behind as it is, he has some serious catching up to do.

Well, it seems as though the midfielder is putting his head down and grafting, as Enrique is loving what he is hearing about the former Barcelona player.

On Arthur playing v Rochdale: “I am loving this from Arthur,” said Enrique. “He’s a very, very talented player. It’s amazing what he is doing. This is a big chance for him to still play for a top team and he is putting everything into it.

“Barry (Lewtas) is the manager of the second team, the U21s. Apart from (Arthur) asking to play (for U21s against Rochdale), it looks like he has his own chef, his own fitness coach and physio.

“So, it looks like he wants to get back to his best. Don’t get me wrong, this is a player who was incredible when he was really young, but it’s not gone his way, for whatever reason.

“The only doubt I have is him adapting to the intensity that Klopp demands. If it’s true, he wants to adapt and work hard for it, then I believe he can do it. It’s exciting he wants to put everything into it.”

CAN ARTHUR MAKE THE LOAN DEAL PERMANENT?

There isn’t a clause in Arthur’s contract which suggests that Liverpool will buy him at the end of the season.

Regardless of what happens with the player in question, fans expect the Merseyside club to add some much-needed midfielders to their squad next summer.

Whilst a Jude Bellingham or another big name might arrive, this is also Arthur’s chance to impress and make that loan deal permanent.

One thing is for sure, with the club’s troubles in the middle of the park, he certainly has the chance to knock that door down by the time the final ball is kicked at the end of the 22/23 campaign.
