Kevin Campbell told the Highbury Squad Podcast that Granit Xhaka only talks when Arsenal are ‘playing well’.
The Sky Sports pundit stated that when Arsenal were going through their struggles this season, and there has been a lot of that, he ‘wasn’t talking’.
Until Xhaka walks out of the doors at the Emirates Stadium, he will forever be a marmite-like figure at the club and it will never change.
That infamous incident against Crystal Palace, when Unai Emery was in charge, didn’t help smooth his relationship with the fans, as Campbell touched upon that incident once again and how it was ‘so wrong’ from him.
“That was so wrong what he done,” said Campbell. “But I have got to say, he’s been picked and his performances have gone up in the team.
“It’s amazing when we started playing well, he started talking, didn’t he?!
“But when we were struggling, he wasn’t talking.”

The one constant from Xhaka has been that under Arsene Wenger, Emery, Freddie Ljungberg and now Mikel Arteta – he is very much liked by these managers and continually picked.
There is definitely a steely character in Xhaka and someone who can lead a group of men, unfortunately, that hasn’t worked at Arsenal, but it’s doing bits on the international stage.
In the long run, it’s perhaps best for Xhaka to part ways with Arsenal and try to revive his career elsewhere and prove his doubters wrong.
