Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has admitted to Sky Sports that he simply cannot believe news about the European Super League.
Bamford and the Leeds squad found out about the plans to form a breakaway competition on social media on Sunday evening.
Leeds players then wore shirts in protest against the decision of the Premier League’s ‘big six’.
Leeds took on Liverpool last night, but the game rather paled into insignificance, after the news of the last 48 hours.
And when asked for his opinion on the matter, the Leeds striker said: “We’ve just seen pretty much what everyone else has seen on Twitter and stuff. It’s amazing the things that they’re talking about, I can’t quite comprehend it, it’s amazing the amount of uproar that comes into the game when some of these pockets are being hurt.
“So, it’s a shame it’s not like that with all the things that go wrong at the minute with racism and stuff like that.
“We talk about it, but once you’re on the pitch, it’s not something you think about.
“We’re like fans, really, and everyone else can’t believe it, we’re in shock.

“For me, personally, from Twitter and the news, I haven’t seen one football fan who’s happy about the decision. I think football ultimately is for and because of the fans.”
Bamford’s comments will by heartening to supporters, who travelled to Elland Road to protest.
Both Leeds and Liverpool fans held banners and chanted outside as the Reds’ players and staff arrived.
Leeds are now set to be part of a Premier League meeting today, where the consequences for the European Super League teams will be discussed.
