Glenn Hoddle has claimed that it’s ‘amazing’ that Frank Lampard has handed the Everton captaincy to Conor Coady given that he is on-loan from Wolves.
The England legend added that Lampard could have handed that role to James Tarkowski, who moved to Goodison Park on a permanent basis, compared to Coady’s loan deal from Wolves, which includes an option to buy at the end of the season.
Over the weekend, Everton picked up their first win of the Premier League campaign when they picked up three points against David Moyes’ struggling West Ham.

That’s back-to-back clean sheets at Goodison Park for the Toffees and only six goals conceded from their opening seven matches.
The two senior men at the heart of the club’s defence have played a huge part in this all, bringing experience, calmness and much-needed leadership to the backline.
Hoddle spoke about the duo’s influence Coady and Tarkowski have made at Everton so far, as he also commented on the former being the captain, as he told Premier League Productions.
“They (Coady & Tarkowski) are decent on the ball,” said Hoddle. “More than decent as in Coady.
“But they are both defenders first, which has gone out of the game a little bit. A lot of teams look at, ‘can my defender play out with the ball? – if they stay fit, then it’s going to be the basis of what Frank (Lampard) is trying to do.
“It’s amazing to give somebody that captaincy for somebody who is on loan You could have given the captaincy to Tarkowski.
“But, at the end of the day, they are both captains. That’s really good for the midfield and the young fullback, Nathan Patterson. He will be secure and be talking non-stop to them.”

COADY AND TARKOWSKI ARE KEY TO EVERTON’S SUCCESS
It’s big pressure putting on those Everton colours and the players have struggled to meet those expectations over the years.
One of the team’s major issues has been the defence, injuries have never helped, but a lack of consistency and constant mistakes have just added to Everton’s problems.
But, with two experienced pros, one a current England international, now at the back, then they can move away from that relegation fight that they were involved in last season.
Just moving back up the table this season would be considered a positive from the club, before they can think of even better things down the line.
