Mikel Arteta has stated that the Leeds United fans are ‘always hectic’ at Elland Road following Arsenal’s 1-0 win on Sunday, as he told Sky Sports.

Leeds United are known for their passionate support and the hostility with which they welcome any team, from bitter rivals to a team sitting mid-table and not playing for much.

Well, Arsenal, who are still sitting at the top of the Premier League table, can tick Leeds United and Elland Road off their list in the latest test they have passed.

Even though Bukayo Saka opened the scoring with a thunderous effort from a close angle in the first half, the home side just kept coming at the London club.

Patrick Bamford will be kicking himself because, if he had scored his penalty, then it wouldn’t have been a surprise to see the three points head towards Jesse Marsch’s side.

Instead, the Gunners held firm, including a penalty and a Gabriel red card being overturned in stoppage time, as Arteta shared his thoughts on the Yorkshire faithful.

“Wow, hectic, it’s always really intense here in this stadium,” said Arteta. “The atmosphere that is created. I think in the first half, we were special in many moments.

“I think we should have put the game 2 or 3-0 up. We didn’t do that and the second half was a different story. Credit to Leeds, they came out in the second half and created problems.”

TOUGH WIN FOR ARSENAL

Whilst Leeds are sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table and still searching for their first win since August, this is a much better win than what is suggested on paper.

After their midweek European game, that hostile atmosphere could have swallowed the Arsenal players up, but instead, they took the game to Marsch’s side.

That puts the north London club four points clear at the top of the Premier League table – ahead of champions Manchester City, who were beaten 1-0 by Liverpool on Sunday.

Perhaps, before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Leeds will do Arsenal a few favours because they face off against Liverpool and Tottenham during a few hectic weeks of action.
