Andy Cole has admitted that he thought the Premier League title race between Liverpool and Manchester City was ‘over’ in his eyes a few weeks ago, but he has now changed his mind.
The former striker told Premier League Productions he felt ‘Man City would run away with it’, but he thinks Liverpool are now showing signs of a championship-winning side.
On Saturday, the Reds recorded a comfortable 2-0 win over Brighton to make it eight wins on the bounce for Jurgen Klopp and his players.
Added with that, only last night, Man City dropped points away at Crystal Palace.
All in all, with some thinking that the title was going to be headed to Manchester again, including Cole, well he’s now changing his mind.
On having momentum at this stage of the season and knowing how it feels like, if he sees it in Liverpool: “I do,” said Cole. “I remember I said a few weeks ago ‘it’s all over’. I thought Man City would run away with it.
“But, the way Liverpool have come back, the consistency, the way they play football and finish teams off.
“Even when they aren’t playing well, they are winning games. That’s what championship teams do.
To put it simply, if Liverpool can win all their remaining Premier League games – that’s ten matches left on the calendar – then they will be champions of England once more.
But, in between that all, they have a trip to the Etihad and also face off against their bitter rivals, Manchester United at Anfield.
Whilst they thrashed United last time out at Old Trafford, it’s a completely different ball game when there is a title on the line and you are in the heat of the battle.
All in all, these last few months of the season, and the upcoming clash between Liverpool and Man City, is going to be pretty tasty.
