Arsenal fans aren’t a happy bunch after Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings was one of a number of centre-backs picked ahead of Ben White for England.
Gareth Southgate named his Three Lions squad on Thursday afternoon, for the forthcoming internationals, with some notable absentees.
The returning face at the back for England was AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori, whilst Wolves captain Conor Coady earned another call, alongside Villa’s £20 million man (BBC Sport).
This has annoyed the Arsenal fanbase because they feel their summer signing is better than, at least, two of those above players.
Both Coady and Mings have been regulars for England, not in terms of starting, but being picked in squads.
Mings actually started England’s first two matches at Euro 2020 and he was outstanding during those games.
But, with Harry Maguire out injured, Arsenal fans felt that this would have increased White’s chances of getting picked, especially given how he has started the season.
However, it seems as though Southgate has other ideas, and whilst Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Saka have been picked, there’s no space for their club teammate.
Jude Bellingham and Mason Greenwood are other players to miss out, but their workload is seemingly being monitored, hence their exclusion.
Here is a selection of Arsenal fans reacting to White not getting picked for England:
