Cesc Fabregas has paid tribute to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on Twitter.
Klopp masterminded a 2-0 victory over Everton in this evening’s Merseyside derby with Everton at Anfield.
As a result, Liverpool have moved back to within a point of Premier League leaders Manchester City at the summit of the standings.
The Reds brushed off a frustrating first-half period, ended by booing around Anfield due to the visitors’ theatrics – by completely dominating the second half.
Goals from Andy Robertson and Divock Origi completed a brilliant victory for Liverpool in the end.
And Fabregas admitted on Twitter that he’s blown away by what Klopp has built on Merseyside.
The German manager has already won one trophy this season – a Carabao Cup – but Liverpool remain on course for an unprecedented quadruple, particularly after this victory.
Here’s what the Spanish midfielder posted on Twitter:
Klopp’s tactical acumen came into play again.
Since the former Borussia Dortmund introduced Origi and Luis Diaz, the game was effectively won for Liverpool.
Diaz provided much greater directness than Sadio Mane had done before him, while Origi had a glowing record against Everton in these derbies and has now netted six Premier League goals against the Toffees, which probably played into Klopp’s thinking.
Fabregas is right – this is one hell of a manager and the dictionary probably doesn’t have enough superlatives if he genuinely does inspire a quadruple this season.
