Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Gabriel Jesus joining Arsenal could be announced this week.
Speculation is rife that Arsenal are set to sign the Manchester City hitman in what will be a £45 million deal, following months of rumours.
The 25-year-old is set to be the Gunners’ third senior addition of the window, after Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira.
And taking to Instagram, the reliable Italian journalist revealed that the North Londoners’ spending is ‘absolutely not over’ yet.
Mikel Arteta and Edu also want Leeds United winger Raphinha at the Emirates Stadium.
And according to The Daily Mail, Arsenal are plotting a second and improved bid for the £65 million-rated attacker.
Even if the Gunners get that one over the line too, you still get the impression that the North Londoners wouldn’t be finished.
Arsenal only finished one point behind fourth-placed Tottenham last season.
But next season will be tougher to break the top four because not only will Spurs, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea be a lot better, but Arteta’s outfit are going to have Europa League football and juggling Thursday – Sunday games for most of the campaign is tricky.
That’s why even if Raphinha follows Jesus to the Emirates, further spending is not only probable, but essential because Arteta will need the squad.
