It’ll take a very special appointment by Celtic to really worry Rangers fans.

After all, Rangers are 20 points clear of their Old Firm rivals in the Scottish Premiership, which they’ve won for the first time since 2011.

Celtic enjoyed nine Premiership titles in a row and plenty of other domestic honours since the Ibrox side last won a major trophy.

But Steven Gerrard’s Rangers could be set for a period of dominance, similar to what Brendan Rodgers enjoyed at Parkhead.

The Bhoys are set to lose legendary captain Scott Brown at the end of this season.

And with no long-term successor to Neil Lennon named yet, this is very much a transitional period for Celtic.

That being said, Jose Mourinho is reportedly on their radar after he was fired by Tottenham Hotspur last week, with Duncan Castles claiming on The Transfer Window Podcast that the Glasgow giants had made contact.

And that is certainly an appointment that would worry Rangers, considering the Portuguese has won quite a few trophies during his managerial career – just a few.

On Tuesday, Mourinho uploaded a photo on Instagram of him keeping the ball away from Gerrard during a defeat for Liverpool by Chelsea at Anfield in 2014 – a defeat that effectively cost the Reds a Premier League title.

It has been perceived as a minor dig at the former Liverpool captain by virtue of the fact that his slip allowed Demba Ba to score a now-famous goal.

Here’s how some Celtic fans reacted to the 58-year-old’s upload on Instagram:
