Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Antonio Conte has delivered an update on Ryan Sessegnon’s injury.

The former Fulham man has been in fine fettle as of late, but sadly, he’s picked up a muscle injury that may keep him out for some time.

Conte says that it’s a real shame to see Sessegnon go down at this point in time as he was putting in some excellent performances for Spurs.

What’s been said?

Conte shared an update on the defender.

“Bad news about Ryan Sessegnon. He had a scan and it’s a muscular problem. Maybe we’ll see him after the international break. About Skipp and Tanganga, they are not ready. We have to wait,” Conte said.

“We have to speak with the medical department find a solution. Sometimes though there is a predisposition to have this type of problem. He’s very strong physically and sometimes it’s good to be strong for your body sometimes it’s not when you’re too strong for your body.

“His performances were good, he was excellent and he was improving. He’s very frustrated. It’s very young to see a player like this frustrated by these injuries. It’s a pity. Also we have to work with him in the human aspect.”

Nightmare timing

The timing of this news couldn’t have been any worse for Sessegnon.

The 21-year-old was finally finding a bit of form in a Tottenham shirt at left-wing-back, but he’s gone down at the worst possible time.

His Spurs career has been stop-start ever since he arrived in north London and this is yet another speedbump in what has been a tumultuous career to date.

We can only hope that the youngster can put this behind him quickly and get back to his best as soon as he’s recovered.
