Fabrizio Romano might have some very good news for Tottenham Hotspur about a reported Liverpool target.
Tottenham have been linked with a move to sign AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie [Calciomercato].
The Ivory Coast international is out of contract with the Italian outfit next summer and as you can imagine, speculation is plentiful.
Problem is, Liverpool have also been heavily linked with a transfer for Kessie.
But according to journalist Romano, Liverpool have dropped out of the race due to the midfielder’s salary demands.
He told Empire of the Kop: “I guess if he’s going to leave AC Milan as a free agent, he wants more than €8m net per season. It’s a lot of money. I think Liverpool want to go in a different way for salaries too and I think they’re taking a good decision on this.”
Enormous boost for Tottenham Hotspur
Indeed, Liverpool dropping out of the equation can only benefit Kessie’s other suitors – like the Lilywhites.
That’s because, well, who would not want to join Jurgen Klopp’s side?
If Liverpool are in the conversation then it’s ominous for Spurs’ hopes because frankly speaking, the Reds are a million times more attractive than whatever Tottenham can offer.
But if Romano is correct, and the Anfield outfit have withdrawn their interest, suddenly Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici do stand a chance.
Well, providing they pay him the necessary £178,000 per week.
