Jamie O’Hara has claimed that Wolves are a ‘disgrace’ for letting Conor Coady leave the club and join Premier League rivals, Everton.

The former midfielder added that Coady is a ‘top, top’ signing for Frank Lampard, but he just couldn’t believe that Wolves have let him go to Everton.

The 29-year-old was benched during Wolves’ 2-1 defeat to Leeds United on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season.

Whether it’s under Nuno Espirito Santo or now Bruno Lage, the Midlands side have been used to playing three at the back, with Coady at the heart of that defence.

But this season, Lage wanted to change it up, go to a back four, which meant pushing Coady out of the XI and playing young duo, Max Kilman and Nathan Collins instead.

Whilst the two lads are very highly-rated players, O’Hara thinks Coady’s qualities and character in and around the club is going to be missed, but what will be Wolves’ loss will be Everton’s gain, as he told Sky Sports News.

“I think it’s a disgrace they have let him go,” said O’Hara. “For me, he is one of the best centre-halves in that position in the Premier League and the way he plays.

“I think he’s fantastic. Everton, what a signing that is for them. Conor Coady is brilliant whenever I have watched him play, in big games, whether it’s Liverpool or Manchester United, he has been superb.

“And he’s talking. The character that he has got, is absolutely outstanding. I can’t believe that Wolves have allowed him to go. I think that’s going to be a problem replacing him. I don’t think you can replace him. They are going to miss him dearly.

BIG RISK FROM WOLVES

Lage has lost his opening game of the new season and they face newly-promoted Fulham at home this Saturday, which could prove to be tricker than most think.

Fulham recorded a 2-2 draw against Liverpool last time out, their confidence is sky high and Aleksandar Mitrovic is waiting for his next victim.

If Wolves lose this one, then it will put massive pressure on the team, the manager and the backline, including talk of why they let Coady go.

But, on the other side, if it works out, then Lage has two serious talents in Collins and Kilman to work with going forward.
