Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder James Maddison says it was not hard for him to imagine being at the north London club.

Tottenham signed James Maddison from Leicester City in June and the 26-year-old has stated that he envisioned himself playing for Spurs before he joined them.

Speaking to TNT Sports, he said: “I could see myself playing for Spurs and I could see myself as a Tottenham Hotspur player.

“I’m really happy. It’s a brilliant club and it’s a big club and you feel that when you arrive and I’ve been made to feel very welcome and stuff.”

Maddison has made a great start to life at Tottenham. He set up both goals in his side’s 2-2 draw with Brentford before playing his part in their 2-0 win against Manchester United.

It looks like Ange Postecoglou may have to cope without him for the trip to Bournemouth, though, with the Englishman picking up an injury last time out.

Tottenham was a good move for James Maddison

Tottenham may not be playing in Europe this season, but they still certainly have their appeal.

The north London outfit remain one of the biggest clubs in English football, while they have an incredible stadium.

Following Leicester’s relegation to the Championship, Tottenham also provided Maddison the chance to make a swift return to the Premier League.

All in all, joining Postecoglou’s side was a really positive career step for the England international.

From Tottenham’s perspective, bringing him in is also starting look like the right decision, if it did not already. His impact was clear to see against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium and his potential absence on the south coast would come as a major blow to his manager.

Spurs should have enough to beat Bournemouth, but it will be a trickier task without Maddison and his creativity.
