Gary Neville has told SkySports that he believes Emre Can’s rumoured exit from Liverpool would be a big blow for the club.

Can starred for Liverpool in the Reds’ dramatic 4-3 victory over Manchester City, but his future at the club is unclear.

The German’s contract is running down and Sky Italia reported that Can has an agreement in principle to join Juventus at the end of the season.

Neville told SkySports on his podcast after the game that he rates Can highly and he will be missed at Liverpool.

He said: “I want to say something about Can. I think he’s a good player, he;s got personality and character and brings a lot to this Liverpool team.

“It’s a big blow for Liverpool. Juventus are a clever club, I’ve liked him for 18 months, two years, I know he’s had a mixed reception. I think he could play for Bayern or Real.

“He looks like a man on the pitch with authority, and there aren’t too many of them around. He’d be a big loss for Liverpool.”

Calciomercato is reporting that this is a ‘decisive week’ for the future of Can, claiming ‘final details’ of his move will be determined within days.

Yesterday’s performance could convince Liverpool to up the ante to try and convince him to stay, but it may already be too late.

While Can may be heading for the exit, Liverpool do have a replacement lined up already in RB Leipzig star Naby Keita.
