Jose Mourinho has intimated that Danny Rose is free to leave Tottenham Hotspur, suggesting he won’t be playing him on a regular basis.

Speculation is rife that Genoa are keen on signing the England international.

Rose has been out of Mourinho’s plans for much of 2020 and Tottenham loaned him to Newcastle United back in January.

Even after returning to North London, the Portuguese coach has no intention of using him, revealing that Ben Davies and Ryan Sessegnon will be his left-back options for the 2020-21 campaign.

He said: “If Genoa gets Danny Rose I think they get a good player. We’ve got Ben Davies, Ryan Sessegnon an investment that we want to improve, so it will be tough for him. If he goes to Genoa and Serie A then that’s very good for him.”

This is a player who clearly isn’t in Mourinho’s long-term plans.

Rose, who earns £60,000 per week with Spurs, is now in the final quarter of his football career, after turning 30 in July.

And it’s so important that he plays regular football.

But as we saw in the Amazon documentary about Tottenham, Rose, who had brutally-honest conversation with Mourinho, is determined to play football and if Genoa can offer him that, maybe a switch to Serie A is for the best.
