Kalidou Koulibaly to Liverpool was a transfer rumour that was doing the rounds at the beginning of the summer.
In fact, the Premier League champions were reported back in May to have drawn up an offer for the £89 million-rated Napoli centre-back [Le10 Sport].
There has been very little speculation of substance about Liverpool signing the Senegalese powerhouse since.
Until now.
With 13 days left in the transfer window, Liverpool are surprisingly still interested in bringing the big man to Anfield.
According to Le Parisien, they ‘dream’ of pairing him and Virgil van Dijk together and have even enlisted the help of Sadio Mane, his colleague at international level.
Jurgen Klopp has already welcomed Thiago and Diogo Jota into his squad over the past five days.
And here’s how Liverpool fans reacted to possibly bringing Koulibaly to Merseyside:
It seems unlikely that Liverpool will sign another central defender this summer, despite losing Dejan Lovren.
That’s because Fabinho posted a man-of-the-match display against Chelsea this past weekend and realistically, they just don’t need somebody like Koulibaly.
Jurgen Klopp’s side cruised to the Premier League title last season and although Koulibaly would definitely make them stronger, they might already have too much for their rivals, with the Thiago and Jota arrivals.
