According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Tottenham Hotspur could meet with Maurizio Sarri as early as next week.

Jose Mourinho finds himself under pressure as Spurs boss, and it’s suggested that Tottenham fancy a move for ex-Chelsea manager Sarri.

In fact, the Italian newspaper claim that Spurs like Sarri so much that there could be a meeting between Sarri and Tottenham officials next week.

Surely no chance

Gazzetta Dello Sport is a fairly reputable source; one of Italy’s leading newspapers, and they’ve run a big exclusive on this story.

However, think about the dates. Tottenham take on Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final a week on Sunday. Would they really meet with a potential new manager just days before the biggest game of the season?

Spurs may well have potential managerial targets in mind for the summer, but surely Daniel Levy wouldn’t initiate talks with a new boss with such a huge, season-defining game on the horizon.

Alasdair Gold’s take

One of the most reliable sources when it comes to Tottenham is Football.London’s Alasdair Gold, and he has offered his take on the Sarri ruours.

Gold claims there is no truth at all to the rampant rumours about Sarri, playing down any talk of the Italian heading to North London.

We’re willing to back Gold over Gazzetta Dello Sport here, but Sarri may still be a name to keep an eye on if Mourinho loses his job somewhere down the line.
