Will Antonio Conte stay at Tottenham Hotspur beyond the summer and will he sign a new contract? That was discussed by Italian football expert, Gab Marcotti, following the arrival of Pedro Porro.
The interesting thing here is that Porro, who joins on an initial loan deal from Sporting Lisbon, is suited to play as a right-sided wing-back and it doesn’t really fit if he’s asked to play in a flat-back four.
Therefore, with Conte’s current deal at Spirs set to expire in the summer, then surely this type of backing by Daniel Levy and co suggests that he will stay beyond the summer?!

That was touched upon by Gab Marcotti, whilst talking to ESPN, and how Spurs might now be thinking of offering the trophy-laden coach a new deal because, at this moment in time, they aren’t putting one on the table for him.
On Conte will still moan despite Porro deal: “If he doesn’t deliver,” chuckled Marcotti. “He’s got to work, work and work.
“I think it’s interesting when we talk about Tottenham’s recruitment. Conte’s contract, as you know, expires in June. He’s not signed a new one or he hasn’t been offered one, from what we understand.
“Fabio Paratici, their head of recruitment, has this massive court case and this ban, which he’s going to appeal. It’s interesting to read this because, from what Jules (Laurens) was saying about Porro, about needing to play as a wing-back rather than a flat-back four or whatever else.
“It does maybe point to the fact that Spurs are saying in their minds ‘let’s give Conte what he needs now, and if it works out, then we will do our best make sure that he stays and we reach a deal’. This isn’t accommodating people who you know are going to be part of your future for the next three to five years.”

DANIEL LEVY HAS SOME BIG CALLS TO MAKE
The Tottenham chairman is already under pressure from his own fans with chants of ‘we want Levy out’ being heard during every game.
Then there is the Juventus saga surrounding Paratici, will the powers that be even allow the club’s head of recruitment to continue on with his work? That’s something that is out of Levy’s hands and he might have no choice but to find someone to fill that role if Paratici is indeed banned from working in England.
Then there is Conte’s contract, as well as Harry Kane’s. There could be the chance that all of the above three are out of the door this summer.
Whatever happens, Levy has some big calls to make and he needs to understand that Tottenham are at a crossroads.
