Tottenham Hotspur right-back Djed Spence has been linked with a move away from the club this summer and one club director has made their feelings clear on the signing.
Since moving to North London from Middlesbrough back in 2022, the English right-back has struggled hugely for Tottenham Hotspur but he was never really given a sustained chance to impress.
Djed Spence has been on three separate loans since his move to Tottenham, with Rennes, Leeds United and Genoa all having the right-back in their ranks but he has yet to earn a permanent move away.
After doing so well at Nottingham Forest, the natural progression for Spence looked to be first team football at Spurs but this has not materialised.

Italian club’s president opens up on Spence signing
The future of Spence, following his recent loan spell at Serie A side Genoa, remains up in the air at this moment in time.
A report from the BBC claimed that Genoa had failed in a cut price deal to sign the right-back with the club’s initial loan containing a purchase option of around £8.5 million.
However, the Italian side failed to come to an agreement with Spurs to lower this purchase option and are now reportedly studying alternatives.
Genoa sporting director Marco Ottolini has opened up on the future of the Englishman and the potential for the Italian club to sign the right-back.
“Anything can happen with 55 days ahead of us,” Ottolini said as per Fabrizio Romano on X. “At the moment, there’s no agreement with Spurs and no conditions to make it happen”.
Spence’s full from grace since Spurs move set to continue
Following Forest’s FA Cup win over Arsenal back in 2022, former Gunners striker Ian Wright was full of praise for Spence.
“But let me say, that was one of the best right back performances I have seen for a very long time. A very long time,” Wright said.
“If we are talking about right-backs performing at an unbelievable level, we’re talking Reece James and Trent (Alexander-Arnold). But I have not seen a combative, technical, swashbuckling performance like that for a very long time.
Since then, however, things have not improved for the right-back and another loan move away from the club looks to be on the cards.
Spence made 16 Serie A appearances during the second half of last season and surely somebody will take a punt on the 23-year-old.
