Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will take on Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United this weekend.
Premier League rivals Manchester City and Newcastle United will lock horns with each other at the Etihad Stadium in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday.
City have the superior team and are in better form, and Arsenal legend Martin Keown has backed Pep Guardiola’s side to beat Eddie Howe’s team.
The talkSPORT pundit does not think that Newcastle will win against City like they did in the Carabao Cup. Back in September 2023, the Magpies beat the Citizens 1-0 at St. James’ Park in the third round of the competition.
Martin Keown backs Manchester City to win vs Newcastle United
Keown said on talkSPORT (12:56 pm, March 15, 2024): “Manchester City will win that. There’s no doubt. They are just purring, aren’t they, going through the gears? I think that’s not a problem.”
When asked about Newcastle beating City in the Carabao Cup, Keown said: “It won’t happen again. That hurts there.”
My View: Manchester City are favourites vs Newcastle United
In my opinion, Manchester City are favourites to win against Newcastle United. I am backing the Citizens to ease past the Magpies at the Etihad Stadium in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday.

City have (arguably?) the best squad in the Premier League. They are determined to win the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League yet again this season.
The Citizens have won three of their last five Premier League games. Newcastle, who could hire Roberto Mancini, have lost two of their last three league matches.
Kevin De Bruyne will not play for City against Newcastle due to an injury, but Jack Grealish could be back for the home team.
Erling Haaland is very likely to lead the line, and we all know how potent he is. The 23-year-old Norway international striker has scored 29 goals and given six assists in 33 matches in all competitions for the Citizens this season.
