Bordeaux president Gerard Lopez said that reported Tottenham Hotspur target Yacine Adli is closing in on a move to Serie A giants AC Milan, while speaking to RMC Sport via GirodinsWeb.

The Rossoneri might have finished 12 points adrift of city rivals Inter in the Scudetto race last season but, make no mistake, the 2020/21 campaign was still a massive step in the right direction for a club who have spent the best part of the last decade milling around in mid-table.

Despite the presence of a 39-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic, this Milan side was comfortably the youngest in Italy’s top flight; a squad chock-full of would-be-superstars learning, developing and improving together under the watchful eye of Stefano Pioli.

In the last two years, the seven-time European champions have made it their mission to snap up some of the most exciting up-and-coming talent on the continent, from Fikayo Tomori to Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez to Sandro Tonali.

So 21-year-old Adli – a former PSG prospect likened to a young Zinedine Zidane due to his balletic style and defence-splitting vision – certainly ticks a lot of boxes as far as AC Milan are concerned.

Is Tottenham target Yacine Adli heading to Serie A?

“It is not wrong to say that AC Milan are well placed and very interested in Yacine Adli. If (the transfer) gets done, it will happen in the coming days,” said Lopez, Bordeaux’s president.

“It is true that there is interest from two clubs for Yacine Adli and other players. It is true that our transfer window will accelerate now with departures and arrivals. There are discussions with clubs and agents.”

According to FootMercato, Ligue 1 champions Lille are keen on Adli too, as are a Tottenham Hotspur side who would benefit from a splash of craft in central areas. Particularly as Tanguy Ndombele suddenly faces an uncertain future in North London.

Adli, however, looks certain to become an AC Milan player before the month is out. And a 21-year-old with the world at his feet will be in good company at the San Siro.
