Jose Mourinho has told Football London that he will be handing a debut to Dilan Markanday eventually.

Markanday was named on Tottenham’s bench last night, but was unable to get on the pitch, as some of his young teammates got their opportunities.

Dane Scarlett, Nile John and Marcel Lavernier all were introduced by Mourinho late on, with Tottenham in a comfortable lead.

However, Markanday had to watch on from the bench – and Mourinho clearly felt bad for the youngster after the game.

“Was not possible for more kids,” he said. “Was not possible for Dilan [Markanday] today but one day it will come and for many more.”

Markanday may have been envious at his teammates for getting on the pitch, but it was still a monumental night for the youngster.

The teenager can take heart from the fact that he is now being considered for first-team squads and Mourinho’s words will surely encourage him.

Markanday also was able to have the privilege of watching an excellent Tottenham display close up last night.

Dele Alli, Carlos Vinicius and Gareth Bale all got on the scoresheet, as Spurs secured a comfortable 4-0 victory.
