Speaking on Off The Ball, Ben Jacobs has been discussing the possibility of Michael Beale taking the Aston Villa job.
Beale becoming the new Villa manager is perhaps the most logical next step for the Villans right now. Their former Assistant Manager is flying in the Championship right now, and given that he knows the owners and the squad very well, he could be a great option for the Clarets.
However, unfortunately for Villa, Jacobs is led to believe that it will be quite difficult to get Beale out of QPR after he pledged his allegiance to the west London club upon rejecting a move to Wolves.
Beale tough to get
Jacobs gave an update on the Villa managerial situation and Beale.
“Too early to say. Pochettino has been mentioned as you say, but they will have to be very ambitious and offer him phenomenal terms. I think he prefers to bide his time. Unai Emery is in the mix, people have mentioned Michael Beale, but it will be quite tough for him to take the Villa job after explaining why he wouldn’t take the Wolves job due to his loyalty to QPR. If he then joins Aston Villa that won’t be a good look for him,” Jacobs said.
Different proposition
It may well be difficult to get Beale out of QPR, but offering him a return to Aston Villa is different to offering him a job at Wolves.
Indeed, Beale already has some roots at Villa Park, and while he wouldn’t be showing loyalty to QPR by ditching them for his former club, it would be hard to blame Beale too much for making this move.
Beale was seemingly happy at Villa before the move to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium, and while this would represent something of a U-turn, it would be an understandable one.
It’s worth asking the question to Beale, that’s for sure.
