Jermain Defoe thinks both West Ham and Tottenham ‘needs to get another centre forward’ during the January transfer window, as he told talkSPORT.
The former striker hailed the players that lead the line for West Ham and Tottenham – claiming that Michail Antonio does ‘everything’, whilst Harry Kane is ‘world class’.
But behind the all-action duo, David Moyes and Antonio Conte don’t have much to choose from and there is heavy reliance on what they bring to the table.
Of course, the likes of Heung-Min Son, Jarrod Bowen and Nikola Vlašić can lead the line if they aren’t playing, but more depth is needed.
This January transfer window could be crucial to both West Ham and Tottenham’s chances of finishing in the Champions League places, with neither team yet to do any business.
Defoe touched upon what both teams need and how it’s crucial that both managers are provided with a helping hand.
On West Ham: “They probably need to get another forward, to be honest,” said Defoe. “When I think about Antonio to go from a fullback to a goalscoring number nine. When you watch him play, he does everything a forward should do. When you look at his goals also, all different types of goals.
“I think if they can get another forward to help him, then goals win games and that would be great.
“They probably do (need another CB) as well. You talk about the spine of the team. If they can get in another defender just to kick on the second half of the season, then it will help the squad.
On Tottenham: “Talk of another forward, there has been so much pressure on Harry Kane for years. He is world-class – if they can get in another forward that can score goals as well, then, for Tottenham, it will be good. Antonio Conte wants to win now and the top four is so important for that club.”

Tottenham scored two stoppage-time goals on Wednesday night to beat Leicester City 3-2 in one of the most dramatic finishes in Premier League history.
Those three points now put Spurs one point behind fourth-placed West Ham in the table.
But, more crucially, the north London club have three games in hand on their neighbours from across the city.
Even if Spurs slip up from here, they should still overtake West Ham, unless they well and truly capitulate.
