Jose Enrique has agreed on his Instagram story that Liverpool possibly made a mistake not signing Nabil Fekir in 2018.

The former left-back added that the attacking midfielder is a ‘top-player’ and the price Liverpool could have paid for him ‘wasn’t crazy either’.

It has been well-documented that Liverpool wanted to sign the now-Real Betis star before he won the 2018 World Cup in France’s colours and he even passed a medical.

But Ferkir’s agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes, shared that the transfer broke down, although, no reason has been given as to why that happened, as reported by the Express.

And when Enrique was talking about possible transfer mistakes from the Reds over the years, Ferkir’s name popped up and this is what he had to say.

“Yes, he is a top player,” said Enrique. “The price we were going to pay for him, it wasn’t crazy either.”

LIVERPOOL HAVEN’T LOST OUT BY NOT SIGNING FEKIR

In truth, Fekir himself has probably lost out more in not signing for Liverpool than the club itself.

The Merseyside giants have gone from strength to strength since those days, including lifting the Champions League and the Premier League.

Plus, at 28, the Frenchman is now at Real Betis, who finished fifth in La Liga this season.

Added with that, he hasn’t played for his country in two years, so it’s not exactly been rosy in the garden for the former Lyon man.
