Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson has told The Arsenal Weekly Podcast that he was with Tottenham Hotspur for around four weeks, before snubbing them to join Arsenal.

The Gunners have brought through a number of young players under Arsene Wenger’s guidance, though the conveyor belt of talent has somewhat slowed down in recent years.

However, fans do have one young player to be excited about right now, with Reiss Nelson being touted for stardom in recent times.

Nelson, 17, has come up through the ranks at the Emirates Stadium, whilst he already has 17 caps for England across various youth levels.

The winger has already made five first-team appearances this season, featuring regularly in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League as Wenger bids to give him first-team football.

With supporters keen to see Nelson develop, the teenager is expected to receive more first-team action this season, and he has now discussed his career at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking on The Arsenal Weekly Podcast, Nelson has revealed that he was scouted by Tottenham Hotspur as a kid, and even spent three or four weeks with Arsenal’s fierce North London rivals..

However, having grown up supporting Arsenal, Nelson admitted that it wasn’t a hard decision to turn his back on Spurs and join his boyhood club after just one training session.

“I was nine years old, I used to play for a team in Catford,” said Nelson. “I would get up every morning with my brother, get on the train and travel to Catford three times a week. I was there for about two months playing for a team called Moonshot FC.”

“I got scouted for Tottenham and was there for three to four weeks before a phone call from Arsenal came. The first session they wanted to sign me so, happy days, I didn’t look back. I’m an Arsenal fan, everyone in my family is Arsenal, so it wasn’t a hard decision,” he added.
