Jack Harrison has admitted that previously coming up against his new Leeds United boss, Jesse Marsch, was ‘upsetting’, as he told Sky Sports.

The Leeds winger shared that he made his professional debut, none other than against Marsch himself.

Harrison was in the MLS, on loan from Manchester City, playing for New York City against Marsch’s New York Red Bulls.

It was a game to forget for the £11 million flyer (BBC Sport) because his team lost 7-0, no wonder he has previously had bad memories.

Nonetheless, Harrison spoke about the difficulties of coming up against Marsch, his style of play, which he is now going to have to implement rather than come up against.

“My first game against the Red Bulls we lost 7-0, so that was my professional debut,” said Harrison. “Those were my first memories of Jesse Marsch.

“Definitely respected how much of a good manager he was and what he did with Red Bulls.

“We always knew it was going to be a tough game against them, with their style of play.

“Probably credit to him as a manager, but, as a player, it was upsetting playing against him.”

Under Marcelo Bielsa, Harrison made huge improvements to his game, including in the final third.

But, primarily, he played out on the left and it will be interesting to see what Marsch does with him.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if he is used in various roles because Harrison has the technical skill and quick-thinking nature to play across the forward line.

All in all, it will become apparent during these coming weeks, especially tonight when Leeds welcome Aston Villa to Yorkshire.
