Dean Henderson has praised Newcastle United supporters and how ‘loud’ St James’ Park was on the opening weekend of the Premier League season.
The England International, who moved to Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United in the summer, watched his newly-promoted side suffer a 2-0 defeat upon their return to the big time in August.
Compared to last season, when Mikel Ashley was still running the ship with Steve Bruce in the dugout, the mood around St James’ Park is now very different.
The new Saudi-led ownership, added with Eddie Howe’s appointment, has seen a huge change at the club.
The Magpies ended the previous campaign in a pretty strong fashion, despite waiting until November to earn their first win of the Premier League campaign.
Nonetheless, when Henderson was asked about the best atmospheres at football grounds, he named his former side Sheffield United, his current team, as well as Newcastle, as he told the Saturday Social on Sky Sports.
“Bramall Lane was top, but the City Ground the other day was special, like seriously special,” said Henderson.
“I think Newcastle, the first game of the season, was loud. Everything going on there and with the club being in the situation they are in. It was unbelievable.”

Well, since that opening day win against Forest, it has been draws galore for those in the north-east.
Prior to the international break, newly-promoted Bournemouth, who are without a manager, put up a real fight to secure a point.
In terms of performances, Newcastle are dominating parts of games, it’s just a case of wasting chances and lacking that bite in the final third.
But their forthcoming games after the international break will be crucial, if they win them, then it puts a positive light on their recent draws.
