Paul Ince told Sky Sports on Super Sunday that Leeds United’s goalless draw with Manchester United was ‘that bad’ that the referee blew his whistle before the intended injury time.
Whilst many were expecting an entertaining scrap between Leeds and Man United at the weekend, neither team really showed up at Elland Road, with the quality lacking on both ends.
After the game, Harry Maguire actually felt that there was some ‘tempo and intensity’ to the game.
They were comments that baffled Ince, who compared the encounter to watching ‘kids play’.
“Harry mentioned about tempo and intensity, I didn’t see it,” said Ince. “I don’t know what game he was playing in. Did you see it (asks Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink).”
Hasselbaink added: “I agree, it wasn’t a high tempo game. But when you go to Elland Road, as a top-five team, it’s not an easy place to go. You don’t get a result easily,”
Ince added: “It’s a tough place to go, especially if there are fans in. But when you talk about the tempo was there, the intensity. It wasn’t. It was that bad that the referee blew up before the injury time. It was that bad from both teams.
“The quality was just poor. It was like watching a kids team play, They kept giving it away, Me to you. You to me. Kicking it out of play.”

That’s the bar Leeds United have set for being the entertainers of England’s top division this season – a slight drop and it’s very noticeable.
But that result and performance on Sunday was the best thing that could happen to Leeds because it shows a different side to their usually aggressive and all-action style.
Plus, after getting blitz inside three minutes at Old Trafford last time out, they learnt their lesson and showed they can iron out any problems that are put in front of them.
