Wolverhampton Wanderers have begun their campaign in magnificent fashion.
Wolves defender Roderick Miranda sat down for an exclusive interview with Portuguese media outlet A Bola, and opened up on how well he is settling into life at Molineux, despite his initial fears.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have really impressed so far this season, and currently sit comfortably top of the Championship table, two points clear of second placed Sheffield United.
The 43-year-old deserves great credit for the manner in which he has galvanised the Wolves squad following their disappointing campaign last season.
Nuno’s impressive player recruitment has played a major role in his side’s success this term. Including himself, there are seven Portuguese nationals involved in the Wolves setup.
And perhaps that is what enabled Miranda to make such a seamless transition from Rio Ave in the summer.
The 26-year-old spoke exclusively to A Bola, sharing two occasions where he felt right at home, whilst declaring his love for the English game:
“I loved Wolverhampton-Aston Villa. It was the closest thing to the atmosphere of a Portuguese classic. The stadium was packed, it was spectacular. But the game in which I experienced the adrenaline of the English league was when we won 3-2 at Hull City. We made it 3-1 at 90+2 and the fans started to leave. However, the referee gave eight minutes of added time, the people sat down and I was surprised by that. The truth is that at 90+9 Hull scored with a penalty and there was a surreal noise around me. It was to the end, English style.”

Next up for Miranda and Wolves is a trip to Berkshire to take on 18th placed Reading on Saturday, and another three points will be of paramount importance, as they look to keep up their momentum at the Championship summit.
