Antonio Conte has stated that Heung-Min Son’s injury was ‘strange’ and he is set to be out of action until ‘after the international break’, as he told his Tottenham press conference.
The 29-year-old started Tottenham’s first leg semi-final defeat to Chelsea in the EFL Cup last week, but he has picked up a ‘muscular problem’ since then.
Tottenham had to come back from behind to beat League One side, Morecambe, in the FA Cup over the weekend.
Son was missing for that encounter, as Conte had to call upon his big guns, Harry Kane and Lucas Moura, from the bench, to avoid a scare.
Whilst Spurs fans knew Son wasn’t going to be available in the near future, Conte has had bad news for the fans and it doesn’t look too good for one of the club’s most important players.
“The update about Sonny is that we, for sure, have to wait until after the international break,” said Conte.
“It was a muscular problem. I repeat, it was strange because he came off during the game, no problem.
“Then, the day after, he felt a bit of pain and he was injured. It’s a pity because you know very well the importance of this player for us.”

The January transfer window is wide open and Spurs fans will be wondering how many moves the club will make.
Even before Son’s injury, it was obvious that changes needed to be made to the club’s first-team squad.
And given that certain players, like Tanguy Ndombele, Dele Alli and Steven Bergwijn haven’t really pulled up trees, so that’s not helpful.
Either way, this is the chance for Daniel Levy to prove that he means business by backing Conte in the market.
