BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks has noted Bernardo Silva’s positioning for Manchester City’s goal against Leicester City as the difference-maker on Saturday.

In his weekly Team of the Week post, Crooks selected Silva for his midfield as Pep Guardiola’s side claimed a big 1-0 win against the Foxes. The result put City back into the top four, with the Manchester giants winning their last three Premier League games.

It was a tight affair at the King Power Stadium with Ederson Moraes playing a key role in keeping Leicester at bay. But in the end, it was Silva’s goal in the second half that proved to be the difference for City.

And for Crooks, it was the positioning for the Portuguese international that made all the difference for City. The pundit wrote: “This was anything but a straightforward win for Manchester City.”

“Leicester made them work for the points and really should have got something out of the game. However, once the ball dropped in front of the Portugal international, it was game over. Silva doesn’t miss chances like that.”

With Silva coming close to leaving City this summer, his return to the starting XI as well as his role as a key player has been a surprising development.

Reports over the window suggested that the playmaker wanted to depart the Etihad.

But as we know, Silva has remained a City player, and his performance on Saturday could prove crucial in the long run this season. With the race for the title likely going straight to the wire, the former AS Monaco star could be key for Guardiola if he is to retain the Premier League title.
