Sam Allardyce has taken aim at West Ham United forward Michail Antonio after last night’s game on Sky Sports.

West Ham beat West Brom 3-1, thanks to two late goals – as they sealed a huge victory.

After the game Antonio, who scored the final goal of the match, said that things were made tough for West Ham by West Brom.

The forward claimed that the Baggies played directly, and chased balls into the channels.

Antonio may have meant his comments as a compliment.

However, Allardyce didn’t see it that way – and the former West Ham boss took aim at the powerful forward in his post match interview.

“The sad thing for me was that the fans didn’t get to see a result for the quality of our performance,” Allardyce said.

“Unlike what Michail Antonio statement that I just heard, saying that we have just got big men who played in the channel.

“He has just insulted me and my team. I know he’s a nice lad, but it was disgusting what he said. I think he should go back and watch the game and see how we really played.

“Our front two are 5ft 10 and 5ft 9, so I don’t know what big men he saw running in the channel.”

Allardyce’s frustration was understandable, as West Brom have endured a tough time of late.

The Baggies have played well since their relegation was confirmed, but they have had nothing to show for their two latest performances.

West Ham, meanwhile, kept their hopes of European football alive by picking up the three points.

If the Hammers beat Southampton on the final day they will be guaranteed Europa League football, which will be a huge achievement for David Moyes’ side.
