‘It was difficult for him’: Andrea Radrizzani praises one Leeds United player

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has praised Kalvin Phillips in The Times.

Radrizzani has said that Phillips could have left for Aston Villa in the summer of 2019.

The Italian businessman has hailed the 24-year-old midfielder for staying at Elland Road and playing a key role in Marcelo Bielsa’s side winning automatic promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.

According to Leeds Live, Villa were interested in signing Phillips from Leeds in the summer of 2019.

The report claims that the Villans made a bid of over £25 million, while two other clubs in the Premier League also made offers.

The Times has also reported that Villa wanted to sign Phillips last summer following their promotion to the Premier League.

Radrizzani told The Times about Phillips: “He could have left. It was a very hard period.

“It was difficult for him to reject such big money without knowing what the future would bring him. Now I think we are both happy for the decision.”

Phillips is one of the best players in the Championship, and now he will be looking to make a similar impact in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old has improved a lot over the past two seasons under head coach Bielsa, and the Englishman will be determined to progress further and show that he can hold his own in the top flight of English football.
