West Ham United spent top dollar on Sebastien Haller this summer.

West Ham United hitman Sebastien Haller has admitted to France Football that he had a ‘catastrophic’ first season playing alongside Luka Jovic at Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Hammers made Haller their most expensive signing of all time earlier this month after shelling out £45 million for the towering French striker [The Standard].
He wound up forming an excellent partnership with old Frankfurt team-mate Jovic – who has joined Real Madrid – and scored 15 goals in 23 Bundesliga starts last term, with the Serbian netting 17.
But it wasn’t so successful during their first season together, with the duo scoring a combined 17 times during the 2017-18 campaign, and the West Ham new boy has opened up on the frustrations of that year.
He told France Football: “The first year, when we both played, it was catastrophic! It did not work at all. But last season, it worked well, we learned from each other and we tried to work together.
“He knew my qualities, I knew his own. He was a young player and the qualities he had, but he also progressed mentally. We both enjoyed the qualities of both.”
This might be something of a worry for West Ham because it indicates that he may not be an instant hit in East London.
It may take a while for his Irons team-mates to work out his game and how best to play with him, as it did for Jovic.
