The Tottenham Hotspur defender gave away a penalty against Manchester City after VAR intervened.

Tottenham ace Danny Rose spoke to reporters about the penalty that he conceded against Manchester City on Tuesday night, and shared his belief that Mauricio Pochettino will not be urging his players to change the way in which they defend, as quoted by Sky Sports.

Spurs ended up winning the game 1-0, after Hugo Lloris saved Sergio Aguero’s spot-kick and Heung-Min Son smashed home the winner 12 minutes from time.

It could have been so different for Tottenham, however, had the Argentine found the back of the net after just 13 minutes.

VAR has divided opinion in its infancy, but most people who understand the game believe that City should not have been awarded a penalty.

There have been suggestions that players will have to start changing the way in which they defend, but Rose insisted that he doesn’t believe Pochettino will be asking the Tottenham players to do that, as quoted by Sky Sports:

“I’m not sure I can complain. I haven’t seen it again. It did hit my arm but it certainly wasn’t intentional. I’m just grateful Hugo saved it and we kept a massive clean sheet, scored at the end and have something to look forward to next week. It’s unnatural to try to defend a shot with your arms behind your back and I’m not sure that’s something the manager would be promoting.”

Tottenham still have a lot to do if they are to progress through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and Pochettino’s side will be hoping to avoid any more controversial VAR incidents at the Etihad on Wednesday night.
