Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool headed into the FA Cup tie against Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday as favourites.
After all, Liverpool have a better team than Manchester United and are in better form. Moreover, goal machine Mohamed Salah was fit and back in form for the Merseyside club.
But, it was United who won the FA Cup quarter-final tie 4-3. A brilliant goal from Antony forced the match into extra time, and in injury time, Amad Diallo scored from close range to win it for Erik ten Hag’s side.
Reflecting on the match, former Newcastle United and West Ham United manager Alan Pardew has noted an interesting stat about Liverpool.
The talkSPORT pundit has pointed out that Liverpool have lost only three domestic games all season – two in the Premier League and one in the FA Cup. Pardew finds this incredible.

Pardew said on talkSPORT (7:45 pm, March 17, 2024): “Forget about Europe. Domestically, Liverpool have lost three games this year, three. Incredible.
“That’s two in the league and this one today because obviously they won the League Cup. It takes some doing.”
My View: Liverpool will bounce back
In my opinion, Liverpool will bounce back from the defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup.
While the Reds will be disappointed at the final result, they will also reflect on how it needed a very late goal for United to win the game.
Liverpool were the better team in normal time, and it was only in the second period of extra time that Erik ten Hag’s side showed more urgency and were better than them.
The Reds still have the Premier League and the UEFA Europa League to play for between now and the end of the season.
