Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has taken to Instagram to express his disappointment at Uruguay’s failure to reach the knockout rounds of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Bentancur, who joined Tottenham from Juventus for an initial transfer fee of £15.8 million (Sky Sports) in January 2022, is absolutely heartbroken at the manner in which Uruguay failed to get out of the group stage in Qatar.

Uruguay finished third in Group H with four points from three matches.

The South American side were level on points with South Korea, who ended up second due to more goals scored.

On the final matchday in the group stage, South Korea scored a late goal to win 2-1 against Portugal.

Uruguay won 2-0 against Ghana quite easily in the end, but they needed just one more goal to finish ahead of South Korea in the group.

As you can see from his Instagram post below, Tottenham midfielder Bentancur is devastated that Uruguay could not get into the last-16 stage of the World Cup, but he is determined to bounce back.
