A Sky Sports reporter has revealed that Lucas Moura is likely to quit Tottenham Hotspur this year.

This has been an awful, injury-hit first full season under Antonio Conte for the former Paris Saint-Germain attacker.

Lucas, who earns £90,000 per week at Tottenham, has only managed eight Premier League appearances since August, all from the bench.

Now that he’s injured, Conte himself even admitted after Christmas [HITC Sport] that it was becoming difficult to even still think of him as part of the Spurs squad, due to his fitness woes.

The 31-year-old has been linked with a return to his native Brazil in recent weeks and Michael Bridge revealed to Sky Sports News’ Transfer Show [06/01, 7:24 pm] that that is likely to materialise.

He said; “Tottenham would love a right wing-back this window and ideally a forward. It looks like Lucas Moura is going to head back to Brazil at the end of the season.”

Whatever happens, Lucas will go down as something of a legendary figure at Spurs.

That’s because remember, he scored the second-half hat-trick at Ajax in 2019 which fired Mauricio Pochettino’s side into the Champions League final.

That was one of the most memorable nights in the modern history of Tottenham Hotspur and it was largely down to him.

On form, Lucas is a massive player and one who can change games, but injuries and increased competition in his position is making it ever so difficult to count on him any longer.
