Gareth Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, has told Sky Sports that the Real Madrid-owned winger wants to win the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur.
Bale returned to Tottenham on a season-long loan deal from Spanish and European giants Madrid in the summer transfer window.
The Wales international winger moved to Los Blancos from Spurs back in 2013, and won the La Liga title twice and the Champions League on four occasions.
Barnett has said that the 31-year-old is aiming to win the league title with the North London club this season, adding that it hurts him to say that because he is an Arsenal fan.
Barnett told Sky Sports when asked what Bale’s ambitions are for his time at Tottenham: “Win the Premier League, without doubt.
“Tottenham have got a good squad, a great coach and with Gareth’s help I’m sure they will get very close. You only have to see the results from last week to see that it’s open. It kills me to say that because I’m an Arsenal supporter, but that’s the reality.”
Title challenge realistic for Tottenham Hotspur?
Liverpool and Manchester City are the two best and strongest teams in England at the moment.
However, both the Reds and the Citizens have looked shaky defensively so far this season, with Jurgen Klopp’s side getting hammered by Aston Villa and Pep Guardiola’s side getting beaten by Leicester City comprehensively.
Tottenham recently negotiated a tough week with matches in quick succession and eased past Manchester United last weekend, and with Bale in the squad, head coach Jose Mourinho now has a very strong attack that includes Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
Anything is possible, as Leicester showed in 2016, and if Spurs continue to win matches after the international break and heading into Christmas, then the North London outfit will fancy their chances of clinching the title.
However, for now, Spurs’ main objective should be to finish in the Premier League and return to the Champions League.
