Speaking on the House of Champions Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Josko Gvardiol’s future.

Gvardiol was one of the breakout stars of the World Cup as he starred in Croatia’s backline as they reached the quarter-finals.

As you can imagine, the centre-back has been linked with some of Europe’s top clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, but now, according to Romano, Real Madrid are beginning to sniff around with the journalist claiming that they’ve scouted the RB Leipzig star on multiple occasions.

Madrid have scouted Gvardiol

Romano shared what he knows about this in-demand star.

“Chelsea are still there, Chelsea are still working on this deal, they consider Gvardiol as a top player for the future. Manchester City, they also had his name on the list when Chelsea wanted Nathan Ake, but nothing happened. Gvardiol remains a player that City appreciate. It is true that Real Madrid have sent their scouts to watch Gvardiol multiple times, it will not be a deal for January it will be one for the summer,” Romano said.

Spurs can kiss goodbye

Sadly for Tottenham, they may have to kiss goodbye to their chances of signing Gvardiol.

The defender is now being targeted by Europe’s true elites. Chelsea, City and Madrid are three of the most prestigious and successful teams in Europe, and, in all honesty, Spurs are not quite on that level.

They’ve not won a trophy in 15, soon to be 16, years, and a player like Gvardiol won’t be desperate to join a side that has repeatedly failed to challenge for top honours.

The reality is that when Madrid come calling, you don’t say no, and Spurs may be about to learn that the hard way.
